A researcher can apply for his/her own funds (max. R75 000), or on behalf of a doctoral (max. R40 000) or a masters (max. R20 000) student. Applications normally open around August every year for allocation during the next year |
A researcher may request funding from his/her own research credits, or from those held by the Faculty, for research-related expenses. These credits are earned when journal articles are published in accredited journals, by publishing conference proceedings, etc |
The university manages funding to provide for attending overseas conferences. A singlepage pre-application form should be completed first, before making any financial or other commitments. The next step is to complete a full CONFCOM application |
Many research funding opportunities are offered by outside agencies in numerous fields of study. A rolling list of up to a year ago is maintained, and it should be scanned for opportunities in your field
|
National Research Foundation (NRF) The NRF is the national goverment body which manages research funding. It offers a number of (sometimes complex) funding programs, and applicants are advised to seek advice before applying for any NRF funding for the first time |
